Nordic Walking
all year long
Nordic Walking was originally developed in Finland as a way to keep athletes of the nordic disciplines in shape over the summer months.
Because of its efficient and healthy movement, it soon caught on in Central Europe, the USA and Japan. The movement patterns are similar to those of cross-country skiing and just like cross-country skiing, if you really want to see what you are made of, then go and find some hills.
To become more proficient, really concentrate on engaging your arms and thigh muscles as much as possible.
One of the benefits of this exercise is that it is a low impact activity and doesn't place too much stress on your joints. So your knees and lower back can breathe a sigh of relief. All you need are some walking shoes and some nordic walking sticks - you can get these at the hotel - and you're ready to roll.
