Hike to Kasplatzl
The Elisabeth Hotel's exhibition dairy
Combine a lovely hike with a delicious Alpine cheese tasting. Every week you have the opportunity to take part in a guided hike to the Kasplatzl including a tour around the dairy. If you want to go there by yourself, find the route description here. Start directly at the Elisabeth Spa Hotel in Kirchberg and walk or take the bike to Aschau, which is about 9km away; or even more conveniently, take the car. From the parking area in Aschau a path leads to the Hintenbachalm and the dairy, which is run with a lot of enthusiasm by Hans Walch jun.
Visit the place where cheese is made
Active holidaymakers will probably choose to walk to the dairy from Kirchberg or take the bicycle. You can also take the car and park it at the Ebenau parking area in Aschau or go all the way up to the alpine pasture via the toll road.
Walking to Aschau takes about one and a half hours, with the car it is only an 8 minutes ride, with the bicycle it will take you about half an hour.
The walk from Aschau to the Hintenbachalm is manageable. If you decide to walk calculate about 45 minutes, by bike about 20 minutes and by car 10 minutes.
If you want you can choose a longer, more diverse alpine hike and visit the Kasplatzl at the end of it. Start your hike at the Ebendau parking area and turn left at the Oberen Grund. After an ascent you will reach the Klooalm (1,100m), where you can have a delicious Tyrolean alpine snack. Continue your hike to the Hirzeggalm (1,552m) and follow the switchback. At the highest point of the Spießnägel you will be rewarded with an utterly beautiful natural environment: alpenrose, meadow and forest flowers along the hiking path up to the bog lake on the plateau. From the summit walk downhill and you will get to the Hirzegglacke south of the mountain top. A the crossroads a sign will show you the way to the Hirzeggalm and from there you will get to the Kasplatzl show dairy via a forest raod.
