"Almabtrieb"

The highlight of the beginning of the autumn season is, without a doubt, the farmers' journeys home, where the cattle are driven from the mountain pastures back to the meadows in the valley. Early in the morning, the cows and calves are decorated with colourful floral arrangements – this signalises that the mountain summer has passed without any misfortune. Often, the two-legged and four-legged creatures march home for hours and while the reward of juicy meadows in the valley awaits the cows, the workers on the pasture are welcomed by joyful togetherness after weeks of silence on the mountains.
