Down the Streif in summer

Leave the skis at home and instead, pack your hiking shoes to explore the famous Streif slope at Hahnenkamm in Kitzbühel while out and about. You can reach the world-famous winter sports location by car or bus from your Wellness Hotel Elisabeth, where the Hahnenkammbahn will bring you to the Hochkitzbühel summit station. If interested, you can make a stop at the Bergbahnmuseum here, to find out information as well as interesting facts about the history of Kitzbühel.

You hike actually begins at the starting house of the Streif. You hike 3,312 metres to your destination, always towards the valley and with the breathtaking mountain panorama in front of you. Via the Mausefalle, the steepest World Cup slope in the world with a 85% gradient, head further towards the Gschöss, the flat, long sliding block. After the old lane, you reach the Seidlalm, perfect for a rest and bite to eat, where you can be treated with fine Tyrolean and Austrian delicacies. Then, it is worth taking a detour to the Seidlalm Lake, which was designed as a snow preserve.

At the end of the Streif hike, you overcome the Lärchenschuss, the Hausberg and the final Zielschuss, where the ski racers race to their goal at speeds of up to 140km/h.

Reversed route

Those who prefer hiking uphill rather than downhill can complete the tour in reverse.

A special tip for World Cup fans: the key points of this hike are marked with gates, where information stations provide interesting information about the ski race and the history of the World Cup.
