Aurach Wildlife Park
Around 200 animals have a suitable habitat in Tyrol's largest open-air enclosure, the Aurach Wildlife Park, approx. 25 minutes by car from Kirchberg, at an altitude of 1,100 metres above sea level. On a total area of 40 hectares, you will meet red deer, lynxes, boars, yaks, zebus, marmots, wild ducks, pheasants, peacocks and much more. In the petting barn, you can then experience friendly rabbits, donkeys, goats, llamas and sheep up close. Children will love the playground with playing and skill stations, which provide useful information about the inhabitants of the animal park. The whole family can then relax in a cosy café restaurant.
Fun in the water around Kitzbühel
On a hot summer day, a swimming trip to one of the clear natural lakes around Kitzbühel or to the swimming pool is a therapeutic experience. The Schwarzsee, a moor lake between Kitzbühel and Reith, is treated as one of the most beautiful swimming lakes in the alpine region and has pleasant bathing temperatures especially early. Another moor lake is the Gieringer Weiher in the wonderful Bichlach Sports & Recreation Area, where dogs are also welcome. The Jochberg forest swimming pool in turn offers a familiar, peaceful ambience as well as volleyball and table tennis.
In just an hour's drive, you will find yourself in Innsbruck. The streets and alleys are lined with historic structures and the landmark of Tyrol's regional capital, the Goldenes Dachl, shines in the heart of the old town. Modern boutiques welcome those who enjoy shopping and you can get to know the culture and region in one of the numerous museums. High above Innsbruck, the Ambras Palace, worth a visit, watches over the region and the city. Another attraction you should climb up to see is the Bergisel Ski Jump, where you can enjoy the wonderful round view from the panorama restaurant and viewing terrace.
You can also reach Salzburg in an hour by car. Visit Salzburg Cathedral and stroll through the baroque old town and take a walk up to the Festungsberg, to enjoy the wonderful view over Salzburg. Hellbrunn Palace in the south of the city captivates with its beautiful park facility and famous water fountains and ponds.
The Bavarian regional capital is around an hour's drive from Kirchberg. Enjoy a few fresh veal sausages, an ice-cold white beer and the wonderful centre of Munich, the city on the Isar.
Swarovski Crystal Worlds
In Wattens, the Swarovski Crystal Worlds will whisk you away on a sparkling foray through the multifaceted nature of the crystals. The water-spouting giants hide numerous chambers of wonder and multimedia experience stations inside, which tell astonishing and interesting tales about the crystals, their processing and diverse use as healing and jewellery stones.
Innsbruck Alpine Zoo
Children love a trip to the Innsbruck Alpine Zoo, which has around 2,000 Alpine animals to marvel at. Ibexes, bears, lynxes, otters and many other animal inhabitants romp about on the around 4 hectare area at an altitude of 750m.
It is only a good half hour from Hotel Elisabeth to Kufstein, where the fortress with the largest free organ in the world, the Heroes' Organ can be visited. The numerous theatre and concert events as well as the operetta performances are a magnet for audiences.
